Our History

Audu Bako zoological and Botanical Garden was establish in 1971, and opened to the public in 1972 by the state military Governor Late Alh. Audu Bako, it covers an area of about 46 hectares with about 75 different species comprising about 350 animals.

 

The Zoo was Registered by Pan African Association of Zoo and Aquaria ( PAAZAB) and International Zoo Educators( IZE) in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
In the year 1999 Governor of Kano State Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was merging wildlife unit and Zoological unit from the department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries to become an Agency and it serves the following
